In 'A quick and easy way to save for an upcoming holiday', we highlighted that setting aside money for an upcoming holiday, and topping it up by selling old or unwanted items, can help make some extra bread. In 2 posts (Week 1 and Week 2), we highlighted about 20 items that we put up for sale. To show what we're calling, the 2 weeks to $500 challenge.

It took a while, but out of the 20 or so items, with further likely sales, about 60% of the items can be considered sold. Perhaps later, or at a different price point, all the remaining items may sell. The initial results from the 2 weeks are here. This post updates the results.

On the holiday itself, people were keen to buy things from Facebook Marketplace. I'm not going to stop them from buying the used items! Even though the sales were not fulfilled till we got back, I can add them to the results of the challenge.

We made $68 from the initial sales + $78 in agreed sales ($156 in total if all the agreed sales are finalized). I'll take that. $156 for a few meals on holiday is not too shabby. Again, these are old or unused items, to free up space and some cash for fun spending. Not to make a profit. Ok, not the $500. The items in the table were the new items that will be finalized after the return. I won't count it as a full transaction till cash is in hand, but I'll count it as a win. If some fall off, not a loss.

Good to do the challenge, and the things went to other people who wanted them. With further interest, more will be sold and collected. I won't directly count it towards the 2 weeks to $500 challenge

Have fun, and hope the #fliplife and the #2weeksto500 challenge go even better for you. How have you done?

To your success.
