In the last post, we highlighted that selling used and old items is a great way of generating some cash before a vacation. With 2 weeks to go till our vacation, that's exactly what we're doing for fun! If $1,000 can be made in a month (Vaynerchuk, 2024), can we sell $500 in 2 weeks?? The #2weeksto500 challenge is on. Let's try with an ad-hoc garage style sale!
These are all old and used items, where profit is not expected to be made. Here are the items up on Facebook Marketplace for Week 1. Clearly selling all of these items in Week 1 would not be enough to hit the 2 week challenge. More items next week!
Item | $ amount to try and sell for | Thumbnail | Facebook Market |
Osterizer Cycle Blender - Sold! | $15 | ![]()
The Postal Service, Give Up Tape | $5 | ![]()
OXO Good Grips Non-stick Rolling Pin | $15 | ![]()
Acacia wood 10 spice rack | $15 | ![]()
Hamilton Beach toaster | $10 | ![]()
KitchenAid Empire Red hand mixer | $25 | ![]()
Crock Pot slow cooker (4.5 quart) | $20 | ![]()

Moen Darcy Brushed Nickel Toile Paper Holder | $15 (or $25 for both!) | ![]()
Moen Darcy Brushed Nickel Towel Ring | $15 (or $25 for both!) | ![]()
Plastic cutting boards - set of 2 | $5 | ![]() |
Even getting all these items was a fair amount of effort, but fun to sell old and used items. It generates a little fun spending money. Especially since the goal is to add to our saved vacation pot and enjoy spending too. To increase the reach and show to more people, these items were also put on Nextdoor. More work is needed, but it is easy to replicate onto a second platform once the pics and text are on Facebook Marketplace.
How much have you made in a quick turnaround garage type sale event? If you're about to start or doing a #2weeksto500 challenge, let us know. How have you done with that #fliplife?
To your success.
