In 'A quick and easy way to save for an upcoming holiday', we highlighted that setting aside money for an upcoming holiday, and topping it up by selling old or unwanted items can help make some extra bread. The last 2 posts (Week 1 and Week 2), we highlighted about 20 items that we put up for sale. To highlight what we're calling, the 2 weeks to $500 challenge. There were a few other items, not all put on Facebook Marketplace.

Most items did not sell, but some did pretty well and were quickly snapped up. Perhaps later, or at a different price point the remaining items may sell.

What did we make with no ads, just Facebook Marketplace and some Nextdoor? No promotion this time. Some items were also put on Nextdoor, though we could have increased the reach by adding all of them there too. I wanted to see how close to the $500 we could get.

We made, $68 to be exact. Not bad. That can get a few drinks on holiday. Again, these are old or unused items, to free up space and some cash for fun spending. Not to make a profit. Lots of interest from potential buyers, and a few sold items. Ok not the $500, but here the items and what they sold for.

It was fun, and a good challenge. Still happy with it, and the things went to other people who could use it. Unfortunately, the last 2 items with the star, the sales will be closed after the holiday. $65 after we're back from holiday is still nice. Had those also happened in the challenge period, that would be nearly $140. I'm sure in a week or 2, with further interest, more will be sold and collected after we return.

Have fun, and hope the #fliplife and the #2weeksto500 challenge go even better for you. How have you done?

To your success.
